HOME

NEAR AND FAR

The Latino Arts Council of Long Island and Gallery North are seeking visual interpretations of what HOME means to you

Is it simply lodging and location, or does the word conjure family and friends? Maybe it’s the longing for a place left behind…

The pandemic has confined some and separated others from our homes. Has the pandemic made you more appreciative, or more apprehensive or restless when considering a place called home?

Submissions are open to all, with particular interest in Latinx artists working within underrepresented Long Island communities. By comparing perspectives, we hope to bridge communities with our mutual concerns, not only in Long Island and our home state of New York, but across national and international borders.

The Latino Arts Council of Long Island’s mission is to foster opportunities in which Latino people are represented in public displays as a means to solidify a sense of belonging and identity and to make a contribution to the betterment of our communities.
